We constantly struggle with the quality of the pictures posted on this site as mastering the techniques associated with processing RAW files is definitely an acquired skill. Over time, experience tends to drive us back to change how we originally approached some settings such as a crop, sharpness or colour balance adjustment. Moreover, our early efforts tend to be primarily experimental, somewhat repetitive and not all that good as we tried to learn the basics. As we've progressed, we've kept our Galleries locale and seasonal in orientation. This is by design, as each is structured such that you can readily gain an appreciation for the abundance and variety of wildlife available in a given area. We intend to follow this format as you may want to travel and have an interest in what is "lurking" at each location during specific times of the year. As we've already pointed out, it's best to go where the wildlife concentrate if you want to consistently get good or interesting shots. We also tend to post too many pictures so bear with us as we learn to edit more tightly.

The following Galleries are presented chronologically to hopefully illustrate, in a comparative sense, how we have progressed as photographers. Our early efforts were self taught, subsequently evolving through a workshop transition to new sites where we began to apply field and class experience to improve exposure, composition and post processing techniques. We're still getting used to The Sibley Field Guide To Birds Of Western North America. We're not "birders" and often have a problem identifying what we are photographing. If you discover an error, please don't hesitate to email the correction to us.
