Galleries

Our Galleries are locale and seasonal in orientation. This is by design, as each is structured such that you can readily gain an appreciation for the abundance and variety of birds and wildlife available at a given location for a specific time of year. We intend to follow this format as you may want to visit the actual site (read our Great Locations synopsis for more in depth descriptions of what you can expect at the best locations we have encountered in our travels). As we've already pointed out, it's best to go where the birds and wildlife concentrate if you want to produce good and interesting images.

Our Galleries are also presented chronologically to hopefully illustrate, in a comparative sense, how we have progressed as photographers. We constantly struggle with the quality of the images we post as mastering the techniques associated with post-processing RAW files is definitely an acquired skill. Over time, experience tends to drive us back to change how we originally approached settings such as color, sharpness or crop that might enhance detail or produce a better composition. Moreover, our Early Galleries tend to be experimental, somewhat repetitive and not all that good as we tried to learn the basics. We are primarily self-taught but have attended targeted workshops to help improve our exposure, composition and enhancement skills.

We are still getting used to The Sibley Field Guide To Birds Of Western North America. We're not "birders" and often have a problem identifying what we are photographing. If you discover an error, please don't hesitate to email the correction to us.
